Termination of Services

How accounts can be terminated on the Opengates Platform, and what happens after termination.

User-Initiated Termination

As a user, you have the right to terminate your account at any time. You may do so by accessing the account settings on the Platform and following the instructions to delete your account. Upon termination, you will lose access to your account, including any data or content associated with it. It is your responsibility to back up any important data prior to initiating the termination process, as Opengates cannot retrieve or restore your information once the account is deleted.

If you have any pending obligations, such as unresolved disputes or unpaid fees, these must be addressed before your account is terminated. Termination does not absolve you of financial responsibilities or other contractual obligations previously agreed upon with other users or the Platform.

Platform-Initiated Termination

Opengates reserves the right to suspend or terminate user accounts under specific circumstances. These may include, but are not limited to:

  • Violations of these Terms, the Privacy Policy, Community Guidelines, or other Platform policies.
  • Prolonged inactivity, as defined by the Platform's policies (e.g., six months or more without login activity).
  • Legal requirements or obligations that necessitate the deactivation of your account.
  • Situations where the account poses risks to the safety, integrity, or operation of the Platform, including instances of fraud, harassment, or misuse.

When an account is terminated by the Platform, users will be notified via the email address associated with their account or through in-platform notifications. Depending on the circumstances, Opengates may offer the user an opportunity to appeal the decision.

Post-Termination Responsibilities

Following termination—whether initiated by the user or the Platform—certain obligations may continue to apply. These include:

  • Resolution of pending disputes with other users or the Platform.
  • Fulfillment of outstanding financial commitments, such as unpaid fees.
  • Compliance with any legal or regulatory requirements.

Opengates will retain user data for a limited period after termination, as outlined in the Privacy Policy, to comply with legal obligations or resolve disputes. After this period, data will be deleted or anonymized.

Effect of Termination

Once an account is terminated, the user's access to the Platform and its services will be revoked. Any content or information that was shared on the Platform may no longer be accessible. However, content that has been shared publicly or with other users may remain visible to those users unless it is removed by the Platform. Termination does not affect any licenses granted to the Platform for operational purposes prior to the termination date.
